Terms of Service
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Welcome to SoulScribe. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and The Imperfect Company, LLC (“SoulScribe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the SoulScribe website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who may use the Service
The Service is designed for children to use under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Accounts may only be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child who uses the Service through your account, and that you consent to their use of the Service and to our collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.
2. The Service
SoulScribe is an interactive storytelling companion. A guide character (“Quill”) helps children create their own stories through guided choices, prompts, and creative writing, with optional voice narration. Some features rely on third-party artificial-intelligence providers to generate text and audio. The Service, including its features and content, may change over time.
3. Accounts and security
You may sign in using a supported third-party authentication provider. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account, including activity by children you permit to use it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Parental responsibility and supervision
The Service is intended to be used by children with active parental involvement. You are responsible for supervising your child’s use of the Service, for the child-profile information you choose to provide (such as a first name and age), and for reviewing content your child creates or hears. Certain actions are protected by a parental gate; you are responsible for keeping gate answers and account access away from children when appropriate.
5. Subscriptions, trials, billing, and cancellation
Some features require a paid subscription. We may offer a free trial; unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription will convert to a paid plan and the payment method on file will be charged on a recurring basis at the then-current price until canceled. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment-card details. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription through the billing portal available in your account settings. Cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Prices and plans may change with notice as required by applicable law.
6. AI-generated content
Stories, prompts, narration, and related output are generated in part by automated systems and may be inaccurate, unexpected, or not suitable for every child. We design the Service with child-appropriate use in mind, but we do not guarantee that generated content will always be accurate, appropriate, or error-free. Parental review and supervision are required. Do not rely on the Service for factual, educational, medical, legal, or other professional guidance.
7. Your content
As between you and SoulScribe, the stories your family creates belong to you. You grant SoulScribe a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and process that content solely to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service and to provide it back to you (for example, saving a library, enabling sharing you initiate, and generating narration). You are responsible for the inputs you and your child provide and represent that you have the rights to provide them.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to permit anyone to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
- attempt to circumvent the parental gate, security, or access controls;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service or its providers;
- submit content that infringes others’ rights or that is unlawful; or
- misuse the Service in a way that could harm children or other users.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and the “SoulScribe” and “Quill” marks, is owned by SoulScribe and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for your content and the rights expressly granted to you, no rights are transferred to you.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties for authentication, payments, hosting, data storage, analytics, and AI text and audio generation. Your use of those features may also be subject to the third parties’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SoulScribe and its affiliates, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or USD 100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold SoulScribe harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for disputes will be the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, except where prohibited by applicable law.
