Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how The Imperfect Company, LLC (“SoulScribe,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the SoulScribe website, applications, and services (the “Service”). Because SoulScribe is intended for children used under parental supervision, we take children’s privacy seriously and design the Service to minimize the information we collect about children.
A note for parents and guardians
Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian. You can review, export, or delete your family’s information and close your account at any time from account settings, or by contacting us at support@soulscribe.com. You may also withdraw consent for your child’s continued use of the Service, which may mean we can no longer provide it to that child.
1. Children’s privacy (COPPA and similar laws)
SoulScribe is directed to families and is intended to be used by children with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws, an account may only be created by a parent or guardian, who provides consent for the child’s use and for the limited collection of information described below. We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the Service, we do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary, and we do not knowingly use children’s information for behavioral advertising or sell it. Parents can review their child’s information, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection at any time using the contact options above. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When a parent signs in through a supported authentication provider, we receive basic profile information such as name and email address to create and secure the account.
- Child profile.A parent may provide a child’s first name and age and a chosen narration voice preference so the Service can personalize the storytelling experience. Please do not enter full names or other sensitive details.
- Content you create. Stories, prompts, choices, world-building notes, and related creative content created through the Service.
- Subscription information. If you subscribe, our payment processor handles your payment details. We receive limited billing status information (such as plan and subscription state); we do not store full payment-card numbers.
- Usage and technical data. Basic logs and analytics about how the Service is used (such as feature usage, device/browser type, and approximate performance) to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Local storage. We store small amounts of data in your browser (for example, a voice preference and session helpers) so the Service works correctly.
3. How we use information
- provide, personalize, and maintain the Service;
- generate story text and optional voice narration through our AI providers;
- save your family’s library and preferences;
- process subscriptions and prevent fraud and abuse through our payment processor;
- secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; and
- comply with legal obligations.
4. AI processing of content
To generate stories and narration, content you and your child provide (such as prompts and story text) is transmitted to and processed by third-party AI providers acting on our behalf. We instruct these providers to process the content to deliver the feature. Please avoid entering personal or sensitive information into story prompts.
5. Service providers we share with
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with vendors that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of the information to providing services to us. These currently include providers for:
- authentication / sign-in;
- AI text and text-to-speech generation;
- payment processing and subscription management;
- database hosting and file/audio storage;
- application hosting and basic analytics.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public, and in connection with a merger or acquisition (with continued protection consistent with this Policy).
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you delete content or your account, we delete or de-identify the associated information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law. Some deletions in the Service are soft-deletes that can be recovered for a limited time before permanent removal.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Parental rights and choices
Parents and guardians may, at any time: review the personal information we have collected from their child; request that we delete it; refuse to permit further collection or use; and close the account. Use account settings or contact support@soulscribe.com. We may need to verify your identity and relationship to the account before acting on a request.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
10. International data transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting the updated Policy with a new “Last updated” date and, where required, obtaining renewed parental consent.
